Situation: Charismatic and hard-driving entrepreneur who had started and was growing a ground-breaking property company. Acquisition by and integration into FTSE 100 company. Main Board position. Two very different businesses and cultures poorly understood from both sides. An ‘old style’ CEO of the parent company unable to give support, feedback and coaching. Resignation and handover to successor. Launch of new business. First experience of coaching.
